Event Description

Please join the Vancouver Island Branch for their annual Bridge Building Competition. This event is part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); an annual celebration of engineering and geoscience across Canada. The goal of this celebration is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices, and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life.

About the Event

Let’s put your engineering skills to work to construct the strongest bridge you can with the materials provided!

Rules Booklet

  • A copy of the competition rules booklet can be found here.

Event Details

In advance of the competition, participants will pick up building kits starting in February from the Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Science Day, 4355 Jingle Pot Road, and Vancouver Island Regional Library on Hammond Bay Road (additional locations to be added).

Participants will then construct a bridge meeting the dimensional requirements set out in the design guidelines and bring their bridges to the event to be load tested.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three (3) finishers in each category.
