Event Description


Microsoft Project is a powerful course that will show you how to plan projects and incorporate a variety or resources, materials, and costs. Learn how to monitor and report on projects. This 2 day hands-on workshop will give you a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Project using a practical approach to project management. During the course you will participate in various hands-on exercises, and develop confidence in creating and managing single as well as multiple projects. It will provide you with the skills to effectively track and analyze projects with a better understanding of the schedule and impact of changes.

  • Set-up MS Project default settings to be conducive to a healthy project;
  • Create, edit, and outline a task list, establish dependencies by linking tasks;
  • Understand how to create milestones and incremental deadlines in the project;
  • Complete a risk assessment of the project plan;
  • Customize and save views and tables;
  • Add and assign resources, work with project calendars, and enter project costs;
  • Apply task type settings, set task constraints;
  • Add notes and links to external information important to the project;
  • Format views and the Gantt chart;
  • Resolve resource conflicts;
  • Print project information;
  • Customize reports;
  • Use the organizer to manage project elements;
  • Add in project rates, costs, and fixed costs;
  • Create master projects, insert and work with subprojects;
  • Sort, filter, and group information;
  • Understand how to go live and track a projects’ progress; and
  • Be able to create reports useful for project evaluation after the project is completed.

David was born and raised in Kelowna. He graduated from Okanagan College in 1992 with a diploma in Computer Informative Systems. Afterwards he worked in information technology as a programmer for Okanagan College for 5 years and taught various Microsoft programs in Continuing Studies at Okanagan College. He also had his own software development company for 25 years. He built custom Microsoft software solutions for small to midsized companies in the Okanagan and Lower Mainland. He has been teaching at PowerConcepts for many years and has expert knowledge in all Microsoft Applications.
