The task of flood protection for the lowlands of Delta come with unique coastal and fluvial challenges. Providing utilities infrastructure across a large land mass for the 3 main communities of Delta includes water, wastewater, and drainage services comes with unique challenges itself.

Topic 3: Emergency Works – Shaw Creek Culvert project:  A lock block retaining wall failure on Shaw Creek prompted urgent action to be taken by the City of Delta. In order to prevent damage to private property and risk to local residents, a 2.4 meter by 2.1 meter culvert was installed. This presentation will share the challenges encountered during this project; including project management, constructability, and environmental factors.
