About the Event

This session will cover various projects delivered by Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. The projects presented are: Gateway Program, Proposed Portside Blundell project, and Holdom Overpass project.

Gateway Program: The Port of Vancouver plays a vital economic role in Canada by connecting consumers and businesses with the global marketplace. Between 2020 and 2025, the port authority is taking a lead role in delivering several infrastructure projects throughout the Lower Mainland with an approximate value of around $1 billion which are part of the Gateway program. The focus of this topic will be a brief overview of our Port of Vancouver's Gateway program which includes identification of the project, size and scale of the program and individual projects and the anticipated local, regional, and national benefits.

Proposed Portside Blundell Project: The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is upgrading roadways in the Fraser Richmond Industrial Lands. This location and its connections to major transportation routes and facilities make it an active industrial area for warehouse and transload businesses that pack and unpack shipping containers moving to and from the Port of Vancouver. The focus of this topic will be the use of progressive design build delivery model (a new model for transportation projects in BC) for delivering this project.

Holdom overpass project: The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is leading a project to design and construct a new overpass over the rail lines at Holdom Avenue in Burnaby. The new overpass will support national trade growth, and aligns with the City of Burnaby’s transportation plans. When complete, it will allow for more fluid rail movement to terminals in North Vancouver, and will improve safety and community access by creating more reliable travel times and better emergency response options. The focus of this topic will be partnering with CN Rail and City of Burnaby to deliver a project outside Vancouver Fraser Port Authority's jurisdiction.
