Event Description


This presentation describes the basics of concrete repair and discusses how to decide on the best methods for the various repair scenarios. Protection strategies for prolonging the maintenance cycle are shown.

About the Event


This presentation is meant to introduce standard repair and rehabilitation strategies and techniques for the most common concrete repair requirements. Rehabilitation techniques for cracks – both moving and stable will be discussed. Techniques, geometries, and techniques for spall repair will be presented. Finally, protection strategies to lengthen the time between maintenance cycles will be introduced.

Jim Caruth, P.Eng.

Technical Services Manager, Xypex Chemical Corporation

Jim Caruth, P.Eng., is a civil engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo with 30 years of experience in the concrete construction industry. His background includes time on various ACI committees and as a Board Member and President of the British Columbia Chapter of ACI. He has worked on and chaired several committees for the BC Ready Mixed Concrete Association.
