Event Description

Presentation #1: Investigating the transition to digital delivery of building projects: impacts on practice and outcomes by Dr. Sheryl Staub-French. Dr. Staub-French has been researching the digital delivery of projects based on the utilization of building information modelling (BIM) for the past 25 years. In this presentation, she will share insights, lessons learned, and emerging trends based on multiple case studies and collaborations with industry partners across the construction supply chain.

Presentation #2: The real estate portfolio of Vancouver Coastal Health is complex, yet impactful for our communities in the North Shore, Vancouver, and Richmond. We will explore the various types of plans and projects that are developed to serve our clients, how they are currently delivered, and where innovative opportunities exist for solutions such as building information modelling.

Presenters

Dr. Sheryl Staub-French, P.Eng., FCAE

Dr. Sheryl Staub-French is a Professor of Civil Engineering and the Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Applied Science. She is Director of the BIM TOPiCS Lab where she leads research focused on understanding and improving best practices for the delivery of sustainable building construction projects through effective and collaborative use of building information modelling (BIM) and related processes. She has published over 100 papers in leading journals and conferences on BIM and related topics, and has contributed to the development of guidelines, standards, and best practices for BIM implementation on projects and within organizations.

Mr. Vishaal Dasoar, P.Eng., MBA, PMP

Vishaal Dasoar is the Regional Director of Real Estate at Vancouver Coastal Health. He leads a team of professionals that plan, design, and construct all non-acute facilities. He is also accountable for negotiations, acquisitions, and execution of development deals for Vancouver Coastal Health. Vishaal has managed individual portfolios up to $400 million, and has managed total assets in excess of $1 billion. He is a Mechanical Engineer from University of Alberta, and following his passion for Business he pursued an MBA, allowing him to integrate the business cases with innovative solutions.
