Community Events and Education Highlight National Engineering and Geoscience Month

Posted on February 7, 2019

March is National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); throughout the month, volunteers in branches around the province will be hosting local community events that focus on students of all ages who may be considering a career in engineering or geoscience. Events can include rock and mineral displays, popsicle-stick bridge building competitions, and other interactive displays.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC is also partnering with the Britannia Mine Museum to mount DIG Day!, a hands-on exploration of geoscience at a once-operating mine near Vancouver. DIG Day! is slated to take place at the Britannia Mine Museum on Saturday, March 16. Engineers and Geoscientists BC will also host the popular NEGM Drawing Contest, in partnership with ASTTBC, where children between the ages of four and 12 think like an engineer or geoscientist and draw a picture related to the theme of the contest. Winning entries have a chance to win a Chapters gift card.

The contest form will be available at the beginning of March. For more information about these and other National Engineering and Geoscience Month events, visit
