Professional Development

In BC, the engineering and geoscience professions enjoy the privilege of self-regulation. By virtue of professional designation, it is both a public and government expectation that regulated professionals maintain continued competency and that regulatory bodies monitor the professional development activities of their members.

Professional Development Requirements

Under the Code of Ethics, members are expected to keep up-to-date and practise only in those fields where their knowledge is current. The association’s Continuing Professional Development Guideline outlines the types of activities and the amount of professional development that practicing members should be undertaking. Members are responsible for undertaking professional development that is relevant to their practice.
