Insurance is pivotal in understanding how to mitigate risk. This online learning course will help attendees understand professional liability insurance and provide examples of claims against engineers and geoscientists, contracts, and risk transfer.


Craig Wallace, P.Eng.

Principal, SHK Law Corporation

Craig Wallace is a principal of SHK with over 30 years of experience in construction, insurance, and commercial litigation. He frequently acts as counsel for design professionals, construction managers, owners, and contractors in all manner of construction disputes. His background as a professional engineer enables him to provide knowledgeable and cost-effective representation to these parties in complex technical cases.

Craig also frequently represents insurers in coverage disputes. His broad commercial litigation practice includes cases involving bonding, builders liens, product liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, and shareholder disputes.

Professional Activities and Memberships

Craig is a member of the Engineers and Geoscientists BC, as well as the Law Societies of British Columbia and Alberta. He is a regular lecturer on the legal aspects of construction and the design professions, and lectures in Engineers and Geoscientists BC courses and continuing education seminars.

Craig is an adjunct professor at UBC and lectures in its Civil Engineering Department, teaching courses on law for engineers and geoscientists.
