Update on the 2018 BC Building Code Parts 1 to 3

Video Length: 5:09:44

Date Recorded: February/22/2019

The new 2018 BC Building and Plumbing Codes became effective December 10, 2018, and apply to building permits applied for on or after that date. Engineers and Geoscientists BC and the Architectural Institute of BC are coordinating efforts to provide training on BC Building Code changes.

This seminar will focus on the updates on the following parts of the 2018 BC Building and Plumbing Codes:

  • Part 1: General
  • Part 2: Administrative Provisions
  • Part 3: Fire Protection, Occupant Safety, and Accessibility

Part 8 (Safety Measures at Construction and Demolition Sites) will not be addressed.

Part 9 (Housing and Small Buildings) has been covered well by others such as BOABC and BC Housing, and therefore will not be included.

The seminar will focus on the major changes to the code and how these changes affect the practice of both engineers and architects.
