My career path has been non-linear, as I started my career as a Geotechnical EIT and then transitioned into water resources/hydrotechnical engineering. After receiving my PEng designation, I detoured completely from engineering to explore a position as an engineering co-op coordinator as well as a talent acquisition specialist. These positions not only strengthened my interpersonal skills, but taught me the importance of giving and receiving mentorship and building teams. I am now back in consulting as a water resources engineer having recognized my strengths in analysis and problem-solving and my stronger foundation in communication and business understanding. For those of you struggling to find your path in engineering or are curious about non-traditional engineering career paths, I might be a good mentor for you!
