Volunteer Orientation

Our goal is to provide you with the resources you need to be a successful Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia volunteer. We have developed an orientation for our volunteers in order to provide helpful information and training for volunteers stepping into their new roles.

The volunteer orientation includes:

  • Volunteer Guidelines: an overview of volunteering with us as well as helpful policies and procedures.
  • Welcome package with information pertaining to your new volunteer position and committee/group.
  • Casual mentor support.
  • Training on roles and responsibilities.

Volunteer Guidelines

The Volunteer Guidelines have been developed as a consistent resource of information on various aspects of volunteering with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. These guidelines are in place to ensure volunteers have the information they need as well as legally required by the organization to be successful and enjoy their time with us, while supporting good governance, protecting volunteers, and the organization.

Please review the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Volunteer Guidelines and acknowledge* that you have familiarized yourself with the guidelines by clicking the acknowledgement button at the bottom of the page.

*You will need to login with your 6-digit User ID and password to view and acknowledge the guidelines.

If you have any questions about the volunteer orientation and/or guidelines, please contact Kevin O'Connell, Director of Human Resources & Facilities at [email protected] or 604.412.4879.

Guide to Inclusive Practices

Engineers and Geoscientists BC has developed a Guide to Inclusive Practices to support volunteers to build and contribute to inclusive environments. The information in this guide can be applied to your volunteer activities with our organization, other organizations, and in your practice. It has several sections, including Inclusive Presentations, Inclusive Meeting Facilitation, and Land Acknowledgements.
