In an April 17, 2025, Consent Order, Richard Bartel admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services he provided for several sewerage systems in the Thompson Okanagan region. Effective April 30, 2025, Mr. Bartel’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.

On May 28, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills published a joint statement with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) highlighting recent progress on developing a reserved practice for ASTTBC registrants.

Annual Reporting is open from now until June 30, and registrants have two new features to assist them in completing their requirements: a prompt to remind registrants to review and update their declared areas of practice and the ability to view upcoming three-year-rolling period deadlines beyond the current reporting period.
