The position of Manager, Engineering is an integral part of the Engineering & Municipal Operations department. Reporting to the Director, you are responsible for overseeing the Engineering Services Division, which includes Land Development Engineering, Capital Program, Master Planning, and Permit Approvals along with Facilities Management. In this role, you will, oversee and provide technical expertise for a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects and programs related, but not limited to, transportation, utilities, water supply, parks, building maintenance and implementing various Council priorities. In collaboration with your colleagues in Public Works and Parks Operations, you will lead the planning, design and construction of infrastructure that meets regional sustainability targets, City growth, operational requirements, and the needs of residents. In the areas of Facilities, you will develop and maintain strong client relationships with other City departments and implement a formal preventative and on-going maintenance program to ensure the longevity of City-owned facilities. As well you will be responsible for the management of both facility and technical engineering staff.
Your previous accomplishments demonstrate your proven ability to create and sustain shared commitment on key municipal engineering matters that will foster innovation. You are an individual who accepts accountability and is confident, driven, has high energy, and consistently exercises sound judgment in providing excellent service to internal and external customers. You demonstrate the ability to “change gears” quickly, analyze and assess situations and prioritize accordingly and reflect a distinguished customer service philosophy.
Include a university degree in engineering and registration or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in BC. Sound knowledge of engineering services, leadership and supervisory experience within a unionized environment is essential along with excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
