Jun’ichi Jensen
Director, Codes and Standards, Province of BC’s Building and Safety Standards Branch
Jun’ichi Jensen is the Director, Codes and Standards with the Province of BC’s Building and Safety Standards Branch. Before joining the branch, Jun’ichi worked as a carpenter and project manager. Since joining the branch in 2008, Jun’ichi has worked on a several significant building code projects, such as daycare facilities, windows, and 6-storey wood, and the development and adoption of the 2012 and 2018 BC Codes. Jun’ichi also participates in the development of model National Codes and the adoption of regulations under the BC Safety Standards Act. As Acting Executive Director, he provides leadership and strategic direction to support a range of key government priorities through building standards and technical safety systems.
Zachary May
Executive Director, Province of BC’s Building and Safety Standards Branch
Zachary May is the Executive Director of the Building and Safety Standards Branch, where he leads the team responsible for British Columbia’s building and technical safety regulatory systems. He has led several national and provincial building code initiatives, including the development of the BC Energy Step Code. He is the Chair of the BC Energy Step Code Council and a former member of the National Research Council’s Standing Committee on Housing and Small Buildings, and the Standing Committee on Energy Efficiency.
Kevin Harding
Manager, Policy and Regulation, Province of BC’s Building and Safety Standards Branch
Kevin Harding is Manager, Policy and Regulation for the Building and Safety Standards Branch. Kevin supports the development of legislation, policy, and strategy relating to the technical safety system in British Columbia, including delegated oversight with authorities having jurisdiction and the development and harmonization of standards.
