This course reviews emerging, panelized high-performance envelope systems and their benefits in scaling solutions to manage energy, carbon and waste from buildings as compared to conventional assemblies.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will be able to:
  1. Understand the urgency of climate change and the role that buildings play;
  2. Summarize the emerging net zero policy landscape and accompanying performance standards;
  3. Understand why the construction sector has historically lagged in meeting these standards;
  4. Explain the fundamental principles of high-performance building envelope design as it pertains to thermal efficiency, water management, system interaction and performance; and
  5. Recognize the benefits of emerging panelized solutions in meeting today's design challenges in terms of sustainability, reduced waste, flexibility, durability and speed of construction compared to conventional construction.
