Event Presenter(s)

Dr. Werner de Schaetzen, P. Eng.

CEO/Founder, GeoAdvice Engineering Inc.

Dr. de Schaetzen is a leading expert in computer modelling of water and wastewater systems. His work on genetic algorithm optimization applied to water systems has gained him both international recognition and numerous award prizes. Dr. de Schaetzen is also the leading author of over 30 papers published in international journals, conference proceedings, and internal research reports.

Dr. de Schaetzen conducted in person training for over 3,000 engineers in water and sewer systems modelling, optimization, and analysis in Canada, USA, and UK. He also designed, implemented, and maintained several hydraulic modelling software applications. He often peer reviews scientific journals, including Urban Water (UK) and the ASCE Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management (USA). Finally, Dr. de Schaetzen is the recipient of the 2010 BC New-Canadian Entrepreneur Award in the category of Environmental Technology. In 2016, Dr. de Schaetzen was the recipient of the BCWWA Excellence and Innovation in the Water and Waste Industry Award in Leadership and Innovation. In 2021, the Vancouver Francophone Chamber of Commerce awarded Dr. de Schaetzen the 2021 Palme Bleue Small Business Award, which recognizes the entrepreneurial excellence and achievements of Francophone or Francophile small and medium-sized enterprises in the Province of BC.

About the Event

Do not waste another dollar on hydraulic modelling until you attend GeoAdvice latest training session: "Hydraulic Modelling of Water Distribution Systems Using WaterCAD". The water distribution modelling training begins with the basics of hydraulic theory as it applies to water distribution modelling, then takes participants through more advanced topics such as working with multiple scenarios, model calibration, fire flow analysis.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Become familiar with the principles of hydraulic network modeling.
  • Understand the basic and advanced capabilities of WaterCAD.
  • Learn the different types of model simulations and building new scenarios.
  • Understand the methods of reviewing and maintaining a hydraulic network model.

Training Agenda

  • Section 1. Introduction to Hydraulic Network Modeling of Water Distribution Systems
  • Section 2. Hydraulics 101
  • Section 3. The WaterCAD Data Model
  • Section 4. Creating and Running Hydraulic Simulations using WaterCAD
  • Section 5. Mapping, Graphing and Reporting in WaterCAD
  • Section 6. Running and Reviewing Fire Flow Simulations using WaterCAD
  • Section 7. Scenario Management Modeling using WaterCAD
