Throughout the month of March, Engineers and Geoscientists BC hosted the tenth annual Science Games. More than 130 students in Grades 1–6 embarked on a 4-week virtual science journey that encouraged them to use their creativity and imagination to make the world a better place.
Through fun, interactive activities and weekly challenges, students from across the province explored different aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) topics, with the help of an engineering or geoscience mentor. They dove deep into the world of innovation and connected with other like-minded students to solve weekly challenges.
New to Science Games this year was the “Meet an Expert” sessions, which provided students with the opportunity to meet industry professionals in different disciplines, ask questions, and learn about what they do as an engineer or geoscientist.
Science Games is part of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s celebration of National Engineering and Geoscience Month. The goal of the event is to provide a fun environment where students can showcase their science talent, and for Engineers and Geoscientists BC to promote an interest in science education and careers in scientific fields.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC acknowledges event sponsors BC Hydro, SLR Consulting, Stantec, and TRUE Consulting. We also wish to thank the many registrants who generously volunteered their time on the Science Games Steering Committee, and who served as mentors and speakers to help make the event a success.
