In February 2023, Engineers and Geoscientists BC will hold its next virtual Science Games. To help make this year’s Science Games a success, we are searching for volunteer mentors to guide small pods of students (Grades 1 through 6) through a 3-week science journey.
From themes like the Magic of Science to Sustainability, each week of Science Games will feature interactive activities and challenges that will help curious participants find inspiration in the worlds of engineering and geoscience.
How to Volunteer
The benefits of volunteering include inspiring the next generation of engineers and geoscientists, encouraging diversity in the professions, building problem-solving skills, and meeting new people.
Over Zoom, volunteer mentors will lead small teams of students through fun science activities on February 11, 18, and 25, 2023.
On these days, volunteer mentors can participate in 1 of 2 sessions for different grade levels:
- Division 1 (Grades 1–3): sessions will run from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
- Division 2 (Grades 4–6): sessions will run from 1:00–3:00 PM.
Volunteers will also receive a package that includes a Science Games t-shirt, activity materials, and branded items.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrants and Student Program members can apply to be a volunteer mentor on our website.
Sponsors are key to Science Games and its continued success. Your support will help supply activity materials to children and mentors as they dive into the fields of engineering and geoscience.
Please contact [email protected] for more information on sponsorship, or to sign up as a Science Games sponsor.
Registration for Science Games 2023 will be available at the beginning of November. Learn more about Science Games.
