Event Description

This webinar describes a technical review of forestry bridge load limits in BC and their use for creating road network load ratings. Originally published in 2014 as draft recommendations, these load limits have been revised and expanded to include additional designs and analyses. The content will be of interest to forest bridge design practitioners, owners, regulators, and other stakeholders.

About the Event

Speakers

Allan Bradley, P.Eng., RPF

Senior Researcher, FPInnovations

Allan has over 30 years of experience in research and development of roads, infrastructure, and trucking and is the author of over 60 related publications. He is keenly interested in resource road design, policy, and technical issues, and the interaction of heavy trucks and infrastructure in the context of soils and climate. Allan is the Research Lead of the Transportation and Infrastructure Group of FPInnovations. Internationally recognized for his contributions in variable tire pressure technology and seasonal weight programs, Allan is a member of both the Transportation Association of Canada and the American Association of Civil Engineers. Allan is a BC-registered professional engineer and professional forester, and lives in Vancouver with his wife and two children.

Brian Chow, M.Eng., FEC

Chief Engineer, Engineering Branch, Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development

Brian has work for the Ministry of Forests for over 30 years, starting in a field capacity at a district and regional level prior to shifting to headquarters. He has had the opportunity and privilege of experiencing and working in many areas within the province and with many dedicated individuals internal and external to government. He worked as a field engineer addressing operational road and bridges issues for the ministry in the Kootenays based out of Nelson for 13 years. Since 2000 he has been focused on development of resource road and bridge engineering standards and policy which are applied for ministry forest road administration and works as well as are reference by industry. In his current role, Brian also collaborates with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and ABCFP in promoting and furthering professional reliance for forest roads and bridges. Brian is a member of and was an executive member, for 10 year, in the early days of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector Division.
