About the Event

During our second Meet an Expert Session, it will be divided into two parts during the 1-hour webinar. Join us to meet 3 experts and discover what they do as part of their daily jobs. We hope to see you there!

Part 1

Satellites and What Goes Up Will Come Down

Presented by Cam Finnigan, P.Eng.

This presentation will explain what and where satellites are, how they get to orbit, and what they do when they get there. We will discuss factors that determine how long satellites last, the dangers they face and examine what becomes of satellites at the end of their mission. Of particular interest we will look briefly at satellite radar.

Part 2

Where Goes My Flush? – Wastewater Treatment and You

Presented by Stella Chiu, P.Eng. and Maggie Sheu, P.Eng.

Ever wonder what happens after you flush the toilet? This presentation will provide the curious minds an overview of the journey of wastewater: from the toilet, to the underground collection systems, to a wastewater treatment facility where it goes through various treatment steps, and eventually back to the environment after treatment.

Intended Audience

This session is intended for elementary students.
