About the Event


Due to unpredictable events like earthquakes, floods and landslides, dam designers are being tested to consider the impacts on every aspect of the dam to ensure that it operates properly.

Presenter

Abdolvahed Razzaghi, M.Sc. A.V.

Abdolvahed is a retired civil/hydraulic consultant. He has spent most of his career in water resources development projects including reconnaissance and feasibility studies for reservoir dams, river management, flood control, and other related subjects. He co-founded a consulting engineering firm where he was CEO and member of board of directors. He was member of a committee for writing technical standards and guidelines for dam construction which is published by the plan and budget organization of Iran in five volumes. He graduated from technical faculty of Tehran university as a civil engineer (1965) and continued his studies in Delft, Nederland in hydraulic Engineering (1970).

Dr. Mitch Mivehchi, P.Eng.

Mitch Mivehchi, P.Eng., is the CEO and President of BMP Engineering and Inspection Inc. and has over 30 years of experience in Civil and Structural Engineering with an in depth understanding of design, construction, and project management. He has managed and conducted multidisciplinary structural seismic evaluation of structural building frames used with the ambient and forced vibration tests and consequently, presented the modified mathematical model with high conformance with the prototype. Mitch has published more than 40 technical papers in international journals and conferences and recently has been preparing a comprehensive paper about the lesson learned of significant achievements of building vibration tests of the past 2-decades investigations, as a state of arts. Mitch graduated with a PhD in Structural Dynamic & Earthquake Engineering (2001), M.Sc. in Hydraulics of Structures (1996), and B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (1992) from Tehran Poly-Technique university. He is also the chair of the tri-city branch of Engineers and Geoscientists BC for year 2021–2022.
