Event Description


A presentation by Marcie Cochrane, P.Eng., M.B.A., will provide inspiration and information on how to take action to advance equity and belonging in engineering and geoscience. Following the presentation, participants will have a chance to ask questions and network. Appetizers will be served.

Event Description

The presentation will focus on individual actions, giving all attendees an opportunity to reflect on their power to influence and support change that advances equity and belonging in engineering and geoscience. The networking portion will be prompted with discussion points, encouraging attendees to share their experiences, ideas, and identify opportunities.

Presentor Bio

Marcie Cochrane, M.B.A., P.Eng.

Marcie is an accomplished professional engineer with over 20 years of engineering and education experience focusing on diversity and inclusion within the engineering sector. She is a natural champion in the implementation of equity analysis having completed masters thesis-level research on the importance of diversity in the workplace and the retention of women in engineering. Marcie’s research recommendations have been adopted by BC’s engineering regulator for implementation, her work received a nomination for a Governor’s General Gold Medal Award, and has worked with several organizations to develop equity and inclusion strategies and action plans. She has delivered numerous presentations and workshops on topics of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to engineering sector organizations, educators, and at industry conferences. With over two decades of experience in leadership and project management, Marcie is an authentic leader with the capacity to develop and execute thoughtful strategic plans by combining an engineering systems-design approach with evidence-based understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. Prior to starting Advance Principle Consulting, Marcie worked for 15 years in technical and leadership roles as a professional engineer. She received her Electrical Engineering degree from UVic and MBA from Royal Roads University. Marcie is a member of the Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board, a regular guest presenter to engineering students at Thompson Rivers University, and an active volunteer who spends time sharing her love of engineering with youth.
