Discipline Notice: Robert Gordon Wilson, P.Eng., P.Geo.
In an August 19, 2025, Consent Order, Robert Gordon Wilson admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the residential landslide risk assessment report he prepared with respect to a property in Williams Lake, BC.

As of August 25, 2025, Mr. Wilson’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for 6 months.

In 2019, Mr. Wilson was retained to provide geotechnical advice and prepare a residential landslide risk assessment report for the purpose of obtaining a development permit for a proposed residential property in Williams Lake, BC. Mr. Wilson relied on outdated landslide assessments of the area despite being aware of more recent assessments, while diverging from the findings of more recent landslide assessments without explanation.

In the Consent Order, Mr. Wilson admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct contrary to the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and agreed that, among other things, he failed to:

  • refer to relevant and applicable guidelines, or include relevant background information required by the relevant and applicable guidelines, in the report;
  • conduct sufficient fieldwork to reasonably evaluate the landslide hazard or risks;
  • obtain – or alternatively disregarded without explanation – information regarding the landslide rating of the property from the Cariboo Regional District;
  • include any maps, plans, figures, sketches, photos, or illustrations in the report and relied instead on outdated and uninformative Google Earth images; and
  • provide an estimate of the landslide hazard or risk for the property, or otherwise make clear to the clients the landslide risk at the property.

As outlined in the Consent Order, prior to the end of his suspension, Mr. Wilson must complete the Professional Engineering and Geoscientists Practice in BC online seminar, an Engineers and Geoscientists BC webinar, and an educational course offered by EPIC Training.

Six months after the conclusion of the suspension period, Mr. Wilson must undergo a practice review conducted by the Audit and Practice Review Committee.

Mr. Wilson paid $7,500 towards the legal and investigative costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
