Fees

This fee schedule supersedes all previously published price lists or communications.

Below, you will find a comprehensive breakdown of our fees. These fees go towards the costs associated with regulating the professions, developing educational resources and guidelines, and protecting the public.

Important Information Pertaining to All Fees

  • All prices are subject to GST
  • The Professional Engineering and Geoscience Practice in BC Online Seminar is subject to GST and PST
  • All prices are in Canadian dollars
  • All fees are non-refundable, unless otherwise specified
  • Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express), online banking (Bank of Montreal, TD Canada Trust, RBC Royal Bank, and Scotiabank), and cheques are accepted
  • For receipts and payment inquiries, please contact the Finance department at [email protected]
  • Applications received without the appropriate fee will not be processed

In some circumstances, individuals who are experiencing financial hardship that renders them unable to pay the full annual fee amount are eligible to apply for a reduced annual fee.

A. Application (Assessment) Fees

  • A.1 Trainee: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT)
    First-time applicant who is applying for EIT or GIT within 12 months of graduation from an engineering or geoscience post-secondary degree program
    $0.00
    Applicant applying more than 12 months after graduation $475.00
    Applicant who is an academically-qualified EIT, GIT, MIT, géo.stag., or CPI in another Canadian province or territory
    (Applicant must be transferring to Engineers and Geoscientists BC in the same trainee registration category as their current registration).

  • A.2 Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.)
    First-time applicant $475.00
    Applicant registered or licensed as P.Eng., P.Geo., ing., or géo in another Canadian province/territory
     $250.00
    Applicant who is currently an EIT or GIT with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EIT/GIT application fee was waived)
    *This includes EIT, GIT, MIT, géo.stag., or CPI registrants who have transferred their registration from another province.     		 $325.00

  • A.3 Professional Licensee (P.L.Eng. or P.L.Geo.)

    Application for minor change to authorized area of reserved practice $200.00
    Application for major change to authorized area of reserved practice $400.00
    Application to the Bridging Pilot Program $475.00
  • A.4 Interview Fees for Applicants as Applicable
    In-person interview at the Engineers and Geoscientists BC office $0.00
    Registration interview rescheduling fee (for applicant-initiated postponement or cancellation of a confirmed interview) $200.00
    Remote registration interview by videoconference fee $200.00

Notes Regarding Annual Fees:

  • *A practising professional registrant, professional licensee, or trainee who is renewing their registration and who is experiencing financial hardship that renders them unable to pay the full annual fee is eligible to apply for a reduced annual fee. 
  • Annual fees will be prorated for applicants whose application is granted at a time other than the beginning of the annual fee cycle. 
  • The reduced non-practising fee may not be further reduced. It may be waived due to a medical condition that renders the registrant or limited licence holder unable to work. A practising professional registrant or professional licensee holder who changes to non-practising status during the calendar year after paying full annual fees for practising status will not receive a rebate or credit.
  • A late fee of 15% will be charged for annual fees paid after the due date of January 1.
  • Registrants going on parental leave can review their available options on the Parental Leave Options for Registrants During Annual Renewal page.

E. Reinstatement of Status Fees

  • E.1 Trainees (EITs and GITs), Non-Practising Registrants, Life Members, or Life Limited Licensee Registrants
    Trainees (EITs and GITs) currently registered with another Canadian engineering and/or geoscience regulator $0.00
    Trainees (EITs and GITs) NOT currently registered with another Canadian engineering and/or geoscience regulator $50.00
    Non-practising registrants, life members, and life limited licensees $50.00
  • E.2 Professional Registrants (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.L.Eng., P.L.Geo.)
    Registration resigned, cancelled, or converted to non-practising less than six months ago $50.00
    Registration resigned, cancelled, or converted to non-practising between six and 18 months ago $100.00
    Registration resigned, cancelled, or converted to non-practising more than 18 months ago and applicant is currently registered with another Canadian engineering and/or geoscience regulator $250.00
    Registration resigned, cancelled, or converted to non-practising more than 18 months ago and applicant is NOT currently registered with another Canadian engineering and/or geoscience regulator $300.00
  • E.3 Interview Fee for Reinstatement as a Professional Registrant (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.L.Eng., P.L.Geo.)

  • G.1 Additional Manual Stamp/Seal

    Important mail and shipping information: Effective September 1, 2025, Engineers and Geoscientists BC will temporarily stop mailing packages to the United States. This includes certificates of registration, professional seals, and official document authentication stamps. Read more in our FAQ.

H. Late Fees

  • H.1 Late Annual Fees
    Failure to pay annual fee 15% of annual fee for registration category
  • H.2 Late Reporting Fees
    Failure to provide certain information published on the register or a personal and unique email address $100.00
    Failure to provide required information (i.e., failure to submit Annual Reporting) $100.00
    Failure to submit a Continuing Education Program declaration $100.00
  • H.3 Late Completion Fees
    Failure to complete Continuing Education plan, Continuing Education hours, or activities (including required ethical learning, required regulatory learning, required technical learning (in the case of a designated structural engineer)) $200.00
