Reduction of Annual Fees

Qualifying for Reduction of Annual Fees Due to Financial Hardship

If you are a practising registrant, limited licence holder, engineer-in-training, or geoscientist-in-training with an annual Active Income* of $31,000 or less, and are experiencing financial hardship that renders you unable to pay the full annual fee, you are eligible for a reduced annual fee. Prorated registrant or trainee fees, one-time licence fees, and the special levy are not eligible for fee reduction.

Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia registrants are also exempted from paying an annual fee if they have a medical condition that renders them unable to work.

*Active Income includes gross income from all employment or director’s fees and/or net income from self employment. It does not include pension or other retirement income, investment income, unemployment insurance income, support payments, scholarships, bursaries or disability income. All other sources of income are considered “active.”

Reduced fees due to financial hardship and exemption from paying the annual fee due to a medical condition may be requested during the online renewal and fee payment process, and requires that you provide a short explanation of your current situation. To renew your registration online, please log onto your registrant account.

Registrants experiencing financial hardship may also apply to the Engineers and Geoscientists Benevolent Fund Society for a waiver of the annual fee. Applying to the Engineers and Geoscientists Benevolent Fund Society requires the disclosure of all personal finances, including income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
