Board Election

Engineers and Geoscientists BC is governed by a board of elected registrants and government appointees and is accountable to the public, overseeing the governance and management of the organization. The organization’s Nomination Committee is responsible for selecting candidates to stand for election to the Board, following a merit-based process that seeks strong and diverse leaders that reflect the organization’s registrant base.

Board Candidates

For the 2024 Board election, registrants will be electing three Board members to each serve a three-year term. The Nomination Committee is pleased to announce the following candidates for the 2024 election:

Selection Process

The nominees are selected by the Nomination Committee, which evaluates candidates through a merit-based process that considers their demonstrated skills in leadership, strategy, financial literacy, human resources, regulatory understanding, governance, and technical proficiency. As part of its merit-based selection process, the Nomination Committee conducts a gap analysis to identify the skills and experience of continuing Board members and the complementary skills and experience that future Board members could add to provide a balanced and well-rounded Board. Election Dates

This year, the Board election will take place approximately one month earlier than in previous years. The election will open by August 8, 2024, and close at noon on Friday, September 6, 2024

At its April 19 meeting, the Engineers and Geoscientists Board approved a bylaw amendment to enable flexibility for the election period and allow a longer runway to onboard new Board members ahead of the Annual General Meeting. 

How to Vote

  • Registrants will be notified by email by August 8 with instructions on voting procedures.
  • Voting will be conducted electronically.
  • All registrants in good standing, including trainees, are eligible to vote.

Continuing Board Members

The following registrant Board members will continue their terms on the Board: Mark Porter, P.Eng., Karen Ling, P.Eng., Veronica Knott, P.Eng., and Matthew Salmon, P.Eng. 

Current Board Chair, Michelle Mahovlich, P.Eng., P.Geo., will continue for 1 additional year in the role of Immediate Past Chair.

The following government appointed Board members are expected to continue their terms on the Board: Cathy McIntyre, MBA, C.Dir., and Bill Chan, CPA, CGA, ICD.D. The recruitment process for two new government appointees is currently ongoing and the new appointees will be announced soon.
