Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is the business name of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia. Engineers and Geoscientists BC regulates and governs these professions under the authority of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act.
The association is charged with protecting the public interest by setting and maintaining high academic, experience, and professional practice standards for over 37,000 members. Individuals licensed by Engineers and Geoscientists BC are the only persons permitted by law to undertake and assume responsibility for engineering and geoscience projects in BC.
We are a not-for-profit organization governed by a council of elected members, licensees and government appointees. Council is accountable to the public through the Ministry of the Attorney General, under the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance, for both the governance and management of the association.

Engineering and geoscience professionals creating a better future for all.
To serve the public interest as a progressive regulator that supports and promotes the engineering and geoscience professions.
In our governance, administration, and delivery of service, we are guided by the following values:
- Integrity: We mean and do what we say,
- Accountability: We are responsible for our actions, and
- Innovation: We will explore new ideas to make things better.
The regulatory landscape in BC is changing. In November 2020, the Professional Governance Act (PGA) will come into force and will replace the Engineers and Geoscientists Act.
In 2020, we are celebrating 100 years of ethics, excellence, and progress. We are looking back at our proud history of safety, innovation, and building British Columbia, and looking forward to our vibrant future.
We are actively reviewing options to host portions of the 2020 Annual Conference program virtually, including our Annual General Meeting.
Increasing student interest and engagement with engineering and geoscience ensures the sustainability of these professions for the future.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC supports and promotes initiatives that increase awareness of the professions of engineering and geoscience. The association also undergoes consultations regarding amendments to bylaws and regulatory matters.
