Engineers and Geoscientists BC

Board Election - Call for Nominations

Engineers and Geoscientists BC is governed by a board of elected registrants and government appointees and is accountable to the public, overseeing the governance and management of the organization. The organization’s Nomination Committee is responsible for selecting candidates to stand for election to the Board, following a merit-based process that seeks strong and diverse leaders that reflect the organization’s registrant base.

Now Open: Call for Nominations

Serving on the Board is a unique and compensated leadership opportunity to give back to the professions, protect the public and the environment, and ensure that engineers and geoscientists have a positive and enduring impact in British Columbia. This year, registrants will elect three (3) Board members.

Registrants who are interested in being considered for a Board position are encouraged to review the Application Process and Information Page. Applications are due by Monday, March 11, 2024 at 5 PM

Selection Process

Candidates are selected by the Nomination Committee through a merit-based process that considers their demonstrated skills in leadership, financial literacy, risk management, human resources, regulatory understanding, governance, and technical proficiency.

The committee’s candidate selection framework includes: a gap analysis (i.e., a review of the skills and experience of remaining Board members); the prioritization of desired skills, competencies, and experience for prospective nominees; diversity considerations; a systematic assessment of candidate skills and competencies; and candidate interviews.

To support this process, all prospective nominees are asked to provide: a written summary of their interest to serve on the Board; a current CV; details of how their experience relates to the desired skills and competencies; responses to supplementary conflict-of-interest and declaration questions; and three references.

To reduce unintentional bias, the committee first reviews and assesses redacted profiles for all prospective nominees with personal identifiers removed, such as name, gender, ethnicity, and region. A second review of candidates is then completed using unredacted profiles. The committee then shortlists candidates to interview. The committee’s deliberations include the consideration of the role requirements, the prioritized skills, and the committee’s assessment of the candidate’s skills, competencies, and experience.

Upon completion of its comprehensive and rigorous process, the Nomination Committee will nominate candidates for the open Board positions.

Election Dates

The Board election dates will be announced in Summer 2024. All registrants in good standing, including trainees, are eligible to vote.
