Mark Porter, P.Eng., StructEng., FEC

Mark Porter, P.Eng., StructEng., FEC, is a Designated Structural Engineer with over 25 years of experience. His work around sustainability and climate change has been recognized by the award of Fellowship in the Institution of Structural Engineers and Engineers Canada. A champion of sustainability since the early days of his career, he has led and been part of cross-disciplinary structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams on award-winning and boundary-breaking projects. Mark brings a deep recognition of the essential value of prioritizing people in design and in leadership, finding great motivation in investing in leadership development, mentorship, and serving with committees and code-development projects to advance sustainability in the built environment. He was the founding Chair of the Climate Change Advisory Group to Engineers Geoscientists BC , and also serves on the Wood First Advisory Committee for the Forestry Innovation Investment Group as well as CSA Code Development Committees. Mark is Managing Director of Structural Engineering at StructureCraft.
Lianna Mah, M.Eng., P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon)

Lianna Mah, M.Eng., P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon) holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, both from UBC. She has spent her 30+ year career in the consulting engineering industry, where she worked on a wide range of wastewater and water treatment and civil engineering projects across Canada and in the Caribbean. Currently, she is Vice President, Business Development and a member of the Board of Directors for the Associated Engineering group of companies, which has more than 1,200 staff in 20 offices across Canada.
Lianna is Past-President and Chair of the Board (2019-2020) of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. She currently sits on the Board of the Engineering and Geoscience Education Foundation BC and volunteers with the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies BC.
Lianna cares deeply about fostering the next generation of engineers and geoscientists. In addition to her volunteer activities for the Engineering and Geoscience Education Foundation, Lianna is a guest speaker for UBC Civil Engineering's Capstone Course and BCIT's Civil Engineering program. She has been recognized for her contributions to promoting the engineering industry, including the UBC Faculty of Applied Science Dean's Medal of Distinction, Engineers and Geoscientists BC Professional Service Award, and Business in Vancouver magazine's top 500 most influential leaders in BC. In recognition of her advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion, in 2016, she received the Engineers Canada Award for the Support of Women in the Engineering Profession and in 2024, the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies BC's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award.
Kathryn Holm, P.Eng.

Kathryn Holm, P.Eng., is the Deputy Director, Engineering & Public Works for the City of New Westminster. Previous roles have included the Director of Real Estate, Facilities & Procurement with Vancity Credit Union, and various roles with the City of Vancouver, including Chief Licence Inspector/Director, Licensing & Community Standards; Senior Branch Head, Streets & Electrical Design; and Business Planning Manager. She also held a variety of positions with Provincial Health Services Authority, including Director, Business Transformation.
Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Manitoba and her Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. She is a Project Management Professional. In addition to her professional duties, Kathryn has significant relevant experience in the non-profit governance having served on a variety of Boards, including the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Vancouver Society of Children’s Centres, and Minerva BC. Previously, she served Engineers and Geoscientists BC through the Women in Engineering and Geoscience Division.
Stuart Venables, MPA, P.Geo.

Stuart (Stu) Venables, MPA, P.Geo., has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Acadia University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Victoria. Stu has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked in both the private and public sector. Currently, Stu works for the BC Energy Regulator (BCER) as the Executive Director, Well & Energy Resource Stewardship, which oversees the Energy Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering and Drilling & Production branches. Previously, Stu held the roles of Senior Geoscientist and Supervisor, Energy Geoscience at the BCER.
Stu served as the Chair (2015-2025) of the BC Seismic Research Consortium where he was responsible for the strategic oversight of a regional seismic array used for regulatory decisions and directing research funding towards the deeper understanding of induced seismicity. He was also the Chair of the Professional Employee’s Association (PEA) BCER Chapter and a Member of the Chapter Association Executive (2023-2025) for the PEA. Stu has successfully ratified five collective bargaining agreements while serving as the local representative for the PEA from 2011-2025 along with implementing a unique career laddering framework for BCER PEA members.
David Wells, JD

D. (David) Wells, JD, is the Dean of the Schools of Arts and Sciences at Vancouver Community College and previous to that was the Academic Dean at the NEC Native Education College. David volunteers his time on several other very important boards such as the Open Door Group, the Aboriginal Homelessness Steering Committee, and the Urban Aboriginal Advisory Committee. David has served Engineers and Geoscientists BC in a variety of volunteer positions including Chair of the Nominations and Elections Review Task Force and a member of the Professional Practice Committee and Governance Committee.
Alison McMahon, ICD.D, GBC.D, B.HRLR
Lay Committee Member
Alison McMahon, ICD.D, GBC.D, B.HRLR, is a senior leader specializing in Indigenous relations, governance, and human capital strategy. She currently leads the Indigenous relations strategy for Whistler Blackcomb (Vail Resorts), working in partnership with Indigenous Nations, industry partners, and corporate stakeholders to advance reconciliation, economic participation, and long-term relationship-based outcomes.
Alison is an experienced entrepreneur, board member, and HR executive with over 18 years of experience spanning complex governance environments, organizational leadership, and risk management. She brings a passion for inclusive organizations, strong governance practices, and thoughtful decision-making.
Alison previously served as HR Director for the Council of the Haida Nation and was a term instructor at the MacEwan University School of Business. She is a former board member of CPHR Alberta and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Whistler Adaptive Sports, where she chairs the Governance & HR Committee.
Alison holds a Bachelor of Human Resources & Labour Relations (B.HRLR) and the ICD.D and GBC.D designations.
