Annual membership renewal for 2018 is currently underway, and members are asked to indicate whether they have met the requirements of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Guideline for the 2017 calendar year. You can do this easily by checking a box during the online membership renewal process or by signing a statement on your hard copy membership renewal form. You are encouraged to declare your compliance with the CPD guideline by January 31, 2018.
Continuing professional development is one of the ways that engineering and geoscience professionals stay current in their respective areas of practice, and compliance with the guideline is highly recommended. Members who indicate their compliance with the guideline are recognized with a “Declared CPD Compliant” note in the online member directory. This allows Engineers and Geoscientists BC to publicly demonstrate engineers and geoscientists’ commitment to practice excellence.
To comply with the CPD Guideline for 2017, members must complete an average of 80 Professional Development Hours (PDH) per year (240 PDH on a three-year rolling total) in at least three of the six categories in the guideline.
If you did not indicate your CPD compliance on your annual membership renewal form and would like to update your member record, you can do so online through your account on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC website in 3 easy steps.
- Log into your account on egbc.ca.
- Select "Manage Professional Development" from the sidebar.
- Navigate to "Declare CPD Compliance" where you will be prompted to check a box and indicate your total CPD hours for the 2017 year.
