Advocacy for the Professions
Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s governing legislation, the Professional Governance Act (PGA), introduced limitations on advocacy activities. To create a pathway for professional advocacy to continue for engineering and geoscience, an independent organization was created in 2024: the BC Society of Engineering and Geoscience (BCSEG).
Engineers and Geoscientists BC provided initial funding of $750,000 to establish BCSEG.
Why Are There Two Organizations?
While both organizations engage with the professions of engineering and geoscience, Engineers and Geoscientists BC and BCSEG perform different roles and have different responsibilities.
