Discipline Notice: Stephen Petrovich, P.Eng.

On February 6, 2026, a panel of the Discipline Committee issued Stephen Petrovich, P.Eng., a discipline order due to his conduct as a professional engineer in other jurisdictions.
With respect to his conduct in other jurisdictions, in 2017, Mr. Petrovich reached a voluntary agreement with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM) in relation to a geotechnical report he prepared for a retaining wall system at a private residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2023, Mr. Petrovich was subject to a disciplinary order with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Mr. Petrovich was ordered to complete educational sessions, pay a fine of $2,000, and to permanently refrain from practicing geotechnical engineering in Alberta. In 2024, Mr. Petrovich reached a voluntary agreement with EGM in which Mr. Petrovich consented to his professional misconduct or unskilled practice and the imposition of a permanent practice restriction prohibiting Mr. Petrovich to practice geotechnical engineering in Manitoba.
On February 6, 2026, the Panel concluded that Mr. Petrovich’s conduct in Manitoba and Alberta constituted conduct of concern under section 76 of the Professional Governance Act, [SBC 2018] ch. 47, and ordered Mr. Petrovich to complete an educational seminar and failure to complete the seminar will result in Mr. Petrovich’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists to be suspended. Mr. Petrovich is prohibited from acting as the Geotechnical Engineer of Record in British Columbia, or practicing in geotechnical engineering except under the direct supervision of a qualified Professional Registrant. In order to lift the practice restriction, Mr. Petrovich must complete additional educational courses and apply for full reinstatement of practice rights through the Credentials Committee.
