Discipline notice: Ik (Peter) Suck Chun

In a June 22, 2026, Consent Order, Ik (Peter) Suck Chun admitted that he demonstrated professional misconduct in relation to the engineering services he provided for the design for a prefabricated steel structure for a property in Williams Lake, BC. Mr. Chun is prohibited from applying for reinstatement of his registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC for two years.
In 2022, Mr. Chun provided engineering services in relation to the design for a prefabricated steel structure with a building area of 580m2 for a property located in Williams Lake. Mr. Chun authenticated the structural drawing and issued a Schedule B Letter of Assurance for the building that did not comply with the BC Building Code or meet Canadian standards.
In the consent order, Mr. Chun admitted that he demonstrated professional misconduct relating to the building, and agreed that he:
- authenticated the structural drawing, which did not comply with the BC Building Code and included only Chinese steel specifications;
- authenticated the structural drawing even though it was prepared by a non-registrant without his involvement or direct supervision;
- authenticated the structural drawing, which incorrectly depicted the building’s arch trusses as continuous members;
- failed to submit the Schedule B Letter of Assurance for the building prior to the commencement of construction;
- failed to conduct one or more field reviews during construction of the building; and
- failed to obtain a documented independent review of the structural drawing prior to issuing the structural drawing for construction.
As outlined in the Consent Order, Mr. Chun is prohibited from applying to reinstate his registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC for two years from the date of the Consent Order.
Mr. Chun paid $7,287.02 towards the legal and investigative costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
