Government Confirms Pause on PST Expansion to Professional Services

On September 18, 2026, the BC government announced it has paused the planned expansion of PST to professional services – including engineering and geoscience services – in response to new and ongoing trade disruptions and economic uncertainty. The changes were originally scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026. 

The pause means that PST will not apply to engineering and geoscience services at this time. A future date for implementation has not yet been shared. 

Engineers and Geoscientists BC will continue to monitor this change and share additional information as it becomes available.
