Two Motions to Be Presented at AGM
Registrants attending this year’s AGM will have the opportunity to debate and vote on two motions submitted by registrants. Registrants can attend the AGM on Wednesday, October 14, either in person in Victoria or virtually.
The following motions will be presented:
Motion 1
That the Board consider directing Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) management to reverse the administrative decision to discontinue collecting top-up donations on behalf of Engineering and Geoscience Education Foundation BC (EGEFBC) following the 2026/2027 fee renewal year and to collaborate with EGEFBC leadership to maintain the top-up point-of-sale donation mechanism at the time of EGBC annual fee collection going forward.

Additional Information for Motion 1
In 2025, the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation officially became an independent organization: the Engineers and Geoscience Education Foundation BC (EGEFBC).
As part of this separation and working agreement, beginning in 2027, Engineers and Geoscientists BC will no longer collect donations as part of registrants’ fee renewal process.
Motion 2
That the Board consider implementing measures to strengthen registrant participation in Engineers and Geoscientists BC Board elections, including measures that encourage all eligible registrants to vote or other mechanisms that achieve significantly higher voter participation and more representative election outcomes, supporting a more effective, inclusive, and modern Board election system.

Each year, Engineers and Geoscientists BC holds an election for Board members. Information about the election is on Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s website and registrants are notified about the election by email, in the monthly newsletter (The Current), and on social media.
Voter turnout rates:
- 2026: 4,356 votes, 9%
- 2025: 4,310 votes, 9.4%
- 2024: 4,581 votes, 10.4%
- 2023: 5,188 votes, 12.6%
- 2022: 5,550 votes, 14%
Voting at the AGM
Professional engineers, professional geoscientists, professional licensees, and trainees are eligible to vote, and may be practising, non-practising, or retired.
Registration for the AGM is open until October 5 at noon.
