Updated Applicant Portal Now Shows Time Estimates

Engineers and Geoscientists BC has made significant upgrades to its online applicant portal to help applicants – including first-time applicants and trainees applying for professional registration – get clearer time estimates for their applications.

Applicants can now view the status of their application for professional registration, as well as quickly see what actions must be taken or which documents must be submitted to advance their application to the next step. The organization also introduced interactive pop-ups giving applicants more details about how long each application task is estimated to take.

“Improving transparency in the application process is a key priority for Engineers and Geoscientists BC,” said Jason Ong, Chief Regulatory Officer and Registrar, Engineers and Geoscientists BC. “By enhancing our systems, we aim to ensure applicants have clear visibility into each stage of their application, creating a more informed and accessible experience.”

These applicant portal upgrades follow Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s publication of 21 registration policies on its website. These policies guide candidates applying for registration or reinstatement.

These efforts are part of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s modernization of application processes following the July 1, 2024, enactment of the International Credentials Recognition Act (ICRA). The ICRA is intended to make it easier, more transparent, and faster for qualified professionals trained in other countries to pursue and achieve credentials recognition, while also allowing regulators to maintain entry-to-practice standards in their mandate.
