Engineers and Geoscientists BC

Induction Ceremony

Please note: This is a private event. Event registration is only valid for new registrants (P.Eng., P.Geo, P.L.Eng. or P.L.Geo) who have received an official invitation via email.

Congratulations on being granted professional registration in Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. As this marks a significant milestone in a registrant's career, the organization would like to formally recognize and honour your achievement.

On behalf of the organization, I would like to cordially invite you and a guest to attend an Induction Ceremony for new registrants.

During the Ceremony, each new registrant will be called to the stage to receive a framed certificate and have your professional photograph taken. At the conclusion of the presentations, all new registrants will be invited to stay and mingle with family, friends and colleagues at a light reception.

Congratulations and welcome to Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.

Sincerely,

Heidi Yang, P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon.)
Chief Executive Officer

Please note: Registration is only valid for new registrants (P.Eng., P.Geo, P.L.Eng. or P.L.Geo) who have received an official invitation via email. You must register online to attend. Thank you.

Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I received the email invite for the Induction Ceremony. Can I confirm if I am actually registered or not?

A: You must register using the “Register” button below and go through the entirety of the registration process. You will receive a separate confirmation email after completing this process. If you do not receive a confirmation email after completing this process, your registration has not been confirmed and you are not on the list to attend the Induction Ceremony for December 4, 2023.

Q: I am having an error when trying to register/I cannot seem to register/the registration button is missing. What’s going on?

A: Once maximum capacity has been reached, the event registration will close. There is currently a higher than usual demand for attending the Induction Ceremony as we move out of the pandemic and return to in-person events. Stay tuned for the dates of future Induction Ceremonies, as each new registrant will receive an invitation depending on the month and year that their license was granted.

Q: Is this Induction Ceremony mandatory to attend?

A: No, it is optional.

Q: Can I bring my children? Do I need to register and pay for them?

A: Infant children 1 year old or under do not need to be registered and can attend for free, as long as they can be held by a parent/guardian and do not occupy an additional seat. All children over 1 year old and whom require their own seat must be registered online to attend the event.

Please note that since this is a formal ceremony, we politely request parents to please be mindful of their young children who become fussy during the ceremony. If they become fussy, please bring them to the foyer area outside so as not to distract others who are paying attention to the ceremony activities at the time.

Q: Are strollers allowed to be carried inside the hall?

A: Yes, but please park them to the side in the strollers area when seated in the Ceremony area.

Q: I am unable to attend the ceremony on this date. Will I be able to have the framed certificate mailed to me or can I pick it up at a later date?

A: No, we do not mail out frames and our office is not currently open to the public.

Q: What exactly is the certificate I will receive at Induction Ceremony? I received my P.Eng./P.Geo certificate already when I was granted professional status - is this the same?

A: Yes, this certificate is a duplicate one of what you had already received when granted professional status, but set into a frame and presented to you on stage during the Ceremony.

Q: I am unable to attend the Ceremony on this date. When will the next one occur?

A: Stay tuned for the dates of future Induction Ceremonies, as each new registrant will receive an invitation depending on the month and year that their license was granted.

Q: I would like to bring more than my allotted 2 guests. How do I register them?

A: At the moment you can only register your first complimentary guest plus an additional second guest for $35.00 + GST. If you would like to invite additional guest(s), please email [email protected] to be placed on the guest waiting list. Should space become available, you will be contacted directly closer to the date of the event pending capacity limits.

Q: Is this the same as the Iron Ring ceremony? Will I receive my engineering ring here?

A: No, this is not the same as the Ring Ceremony. Engineers and Geoscientists BC does not oversee this event. For information about the Ring Ceremony, please visit: https://ironring.ca

Q: I am not located in Vancouver, BC. Will I be reimbursed for travel and accommodation to attend the Induction Ceremony?

A: No, we do not do reimbursements for travel and accommodation.
