Permit to Practice Training

The Regulation of Firms Permit to Practice training provides guidance to Responsible Registrants and other individuals employed by or under contract with a registrant firm of Engineers and Geoscientists BC on the requirements for applying for and maintaining their firm’s Permit to Practice.

All individuals acting as Responsible Registrants for a registrant firm are required to complete this training.

Initial Training

Professional Registrants who are designated as Responsible Registrants upon the initial registration of the registrant firm must complete the training within 12 months of the firm receiving their Permit to Practice. If a Responsible Registrant is designated after the initial registration of the firm, the training must be completed within 3 months of the Responsible Registrant Declaration being agreed to.

To learn more and register for the initial training, please see Regulation of Firms Permit to Practice Training in the Knowledge Centre.

5-Year Refresher Training

Responsible Registrants must renew their training requirement every five years, in accordance with s.7.7.1 of the Bylaws of Engineers and Geoscientists BC and in accordance with clause 10 of the Responsible Registration Declaration that was agreed to. This training will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete and is intended to reinforce key quality management standards and compliance.

Responsible Registrants will receive an email with a link to access the Permit to Practice 5-Year Refresher Training when their requirement is three months away from the due date.
