Induction Ceremony

The Induction Ceremony is an invite-only event for new registrants to formally recognize the significant milestone of becoming a registered professional engineer or geoscientist. Together as a group, each registrant will take an oath to protect the public in front of their peers, Engineers and Geoscientists BC staff, and their support groups.

The next Induction Ceremony will be on February 10, 2026. This event is now sold out.

Congratulations on being granted professional registration in Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. As this marks a significant milestone in a registrant's career, the organization would like to formally recognize and honour your achievement.

On behalf of the organization, I would like to cordially invite you and a guest to attend an Induction Ceremony for new registrants. 

During the Ceremony, each new registrant will be called to cross the stage and shake hands with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Board Chair, and Chief Regulatory Officer and Registrar. At the conclusion of the presentations, all new registrants will be invited to stay and mingle with family, friends and colleagues at the mix n' mingle.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How do I register for an Induction Ceremony?

  • After your license has been granted, you become eligible to be added to our save the date list for an upcoming Induction Ceremonies.
  • The save the date list is pulled based on registrant and license status 2 months prior to the ceremony date.
  • If you haven't received a save the date email and would like to be added, please email [email protected]

2. What happens at an Induction Ceremony?

  • Before the ceremony, there is a mandatory Inductee pre-ceremony briefing for all Inductees. During the Induction Ceremony, each Inductee is called to cross the stage and shake hands with the Chief Regulatory Officer and Registrar, and the Board Chair. Afterwards, all new registrants stand for the reading of the registrant invocation. Once the ceremony has concluded, there is a mix n' mingle with light refreshments.

3. What certificate will I receive at the Induction Ceremony?

  • You will receive a duplicate copy of the certificate that was mailed to you when your professional status and license was confirmed. This duplicate certificate will be presented when you cross the stage during the Induction Ceremony. 

4. Will there be a sit-down dinner after the Induction Ceremony? 

  • After the Induction Ceremony, Inductees and guests are invited to the Mix n’ Mingle where we will be serving light refreshments and appetizers.  No sit down dinner will be served.
  • As an Inductee, you’ll have the chance to network with other Inductees, Engineers and Geoscientists BC staff, and board members. 

5. How many guests am I able to invite? Can I bring my children? 

  • Each new Inductee has the opportunity to register for a complimentary guest and additional paid guests (including children). Seats are limited and based on availability.

6. I am unable to attend the upcoming Induction Ceremony and would like my certificate.

  • Don’t worry, a copy of your certificate has been mailed to the address indicated in your registrant profile 15 business days after your license was confirmed. 

7. Is the Induction Ceremony the same as the Iron Ring Ceremony? How do I get my iron ring?

  • No, the Induction Ceremony is a separate event hosted by Engineers and Geoscientists BC. To learn more about the Iron Ring Ceremony, please visit: ironring.ca
  • If you a Canadian student and haven't gotten your iron ring, we suggest reaching out to your university for more information.
