Frank Baumann Bursary

Application Guidelines

The Foundation is pleased to offer the Frank Baumann Bursary, valued at $2,500, to a deserving BC student enrolled in an engineering or geoscience program who is pursuing studies in the area of geohazards. The recipient will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic standing, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and a student statement.

This bursary is offered in honour of Frank Baumann, P.Eng. Frank was a well-respected professional member and consulted extensively in geotechnical engineering, snow and earth stability, and risk assessment across the province of British Columbia. He was also a teacher, mentor, and exceptional volunteer, freely sharing his time and knowledge with many organizations including Search and Rescue, the UBC Varsity Outdoor Club, and Camp Kawkawa.

The Frank Baumann Bursary was established thanks to generous donations from numerous individuals and organizations.

Applications were accepted until 11:59 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023.
