Submitting Motions at the AGM

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity for members to hear from Council and senior staff on the association’s strategic progress, key initiatives, and financial standing. It also provides an opportunity for members to participate in self-regulation by bringing forward motions for the consideration of Council.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC members (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) and licensees (Eng.L. or Geo.L.) may submit motions to be voted on by members.

If the motion is submitted at least 30 days in advance (by September 20), it will be published to members ahead of the meeting in order to support informed debate on the issue. This year, an enhanced process for submitting motions will enable members to use an online form, and to learn more about how motions are assessed by Council if they are passed by the assembly at the AGM.

To submit a motion for the AGM, you will need to provide the full text of your motion, along with some basic information about how it aligns with the association’s Strategic Plan and the motion’s importance.

The AGM will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Vancouver Conference Centre – East, from 8:30 AM–12:30 PM.
