On December 6, Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, Engineers and Geoscientists BC honours the memory of the 14 women whose lives were taken at École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 and acknowledge the lasting impact on families, communities, and professions.

Registrant firms are responsible to ensure titles with restricted words, such as engineer or geoscientist, have not been assigned to non-registrants in breach of the Professional Governance Act. Starting January 1, compliance will be enforced.

At the Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Board’s inaugural meeting for the 2025/26 term, October 20, the Board elected Karen Ling, P.Eng., as the new Chair and Dr. Jens Weber, P.Eng., as Vice Chair.

In a September 15, 2025, Consent Order, Dr. Zhao admitted that he provided geotechnical and structural engineering services in contravention of a Practice Restriction that was ordered through a 2019 Consent Order with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Dr. Zhao’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.

In a September 5, 2025, Consent Order, Rolando Syjuco admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services he provided for the structural design of a residence in Ladysmith, BC.

On June 12, 2025, a panel of the Discipline Committee found that Amr Ahmed Sayed Hassan Eloufy demonstrated conduct unbecoming a registrant by falsifying the identity of at least two competency validators in his application and misrepresenting himself as a professional engineer to his former employer.
