Practice Advice Program

The Practice Advice Program provides interpretation and guidance to registrants and other stakeholders regarding standards of professional and ethical practice as set out in the Professional Governance Act, Engineers and Geoscientists BC Bylaws, and any guidance published by Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

The Practice Advice Program consists of three main components.

1. Practice Questions

Anyone can contact a Practice Advisor with questions related to professional practice, ethics, and practice guidelines.

Staff cannot answer questions related to legal and contractual issues, employment terms and conditions, dispute mediation, or specific technical review of engineering or geoscience work.

Contact a Practice advisor at: [email protected]

Please note that we cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality of practice inquiries and records are kept of these communications. If an issue comes to the knowledge of staff that indicates a clear concern relating to the safety, health, and welfare of the public or the environment, this information may be reported to the Legislation, Ethics and Compliance Department for investigation. If you provide any personal information when utilizing the Practice Advice Program, that personal information may be collected in our records, pursuant to section 26 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, for the purposes of training, ensuring consistency of our advice, identifying trends in inquiries, and determining the need for development of formal practice guidance. If you have any questions about our collection of personal information through the Practice Advice Program, contact Lindsay Steele at 200–4010 Regent St, Burnaby, BC, V5C 6N2 or 604.412.6056.
